WritingWriting is one of my best hobbies. I’ve been writing since I was 16.
In high school I started writing comic stories. They were about the funny and unpredictable behavior of classmates during the hours that were not available at school. Very visually oriented, I noticed everything that was striking or did not look normal on and around the schoolyard. That fascinated me, especially the made-up basketball matches between girls who had never played sports, but who played so diligently and tried to get the ball so fanatically. These and other different scenarios sparked my imagination, so I had no choice but to translate them as stories. Then I started to pursue a fun, but serious hobby: writing.
At the age of 20 I switched from writing stories to writing poems. Love poems, I missed that in my country, in that world where I lived. I wrote in Portuguese (the language of my childhood), and nowadays I also write in Dutch (an art in itself).
I often recite my poems in combination with music, in African clothing or in traditional costumes. In the Netherlands I took part in several poetry competitions, which resulted in a prize at one of them; in Groningen during the Wuacademia festival.
In 2007 I was a member of Dichterskring “Schrevenenswaard”. In 2008 I moved to Haarlem and since the beginning of 2010 I am a member of the Poetry Circle “De Nieuwe Eglantier” in Haarlem.
2007-2008: member of Poetry Circle ‘Schrevenenswaard’ from Heerhugowaard; 2010-2011: member of the Circle of Poets ‘De Nieuwe Egelantier’ in Haarlem.
